Case Study - InterAction
HomeDev has been engaged as the technical consultants on a large InterAction 6.x implementation.
During this project HomeDev was engaged as the technical architect on all aspects of the implementation of InterAction.
This involved providing expertise in the following key areas
Installation

Environment Configuration
A technical analysis of the server topology required to implement InterAction was performed. HomeDev created environment configuration documentation, with recommendations on the number of servers, virtual v's physical, operating system and server specifications required to support the target number of users and the functionality that the client was intending to implement -
Development / Test / Training environments
HomeDev created multiple InterAction environments to support the implementation project and on-going testing and training requirements. As part of the creation of these environments, production installation documentation was also generated to document the go live installation and configuration for the creation of the production environment -
Environment refresh process
A process was created for the client to allow an easy restore process to refresh development/test/training environments. This process was documented and handed over to the business to allow the non-production environments to be periodically refreshed with production data to allow ongoing development and testing of configuration changes prior to implementing in production. -
Client Software Installation
Support was provided to the internal IT department to configure installation of the InterAction client software onto the firms desktop computers. Support was provided around installing and configuring the following software:- Windows Desktop Client
- IMO - InterAction for Microsoft Outlook
- Login scripts to control software configuration base upon AD groups
- Firm wide roll out of the IMO client and Outlook to InterAction synchronisation
Data Conversion
Data Integration
- HR system integration - automatically creating new users in the system
- PMS integration - integrating the core finance data from the firms Practice Management System
- Company integrations - create new companies when a client is created in the PMS
Software Integration
Two integration were implemented. One being an ActiveX control that is integrated into the InterAction web client to provide DMS access from within the WebClient, whilst in the other direction a CM+ accessible business object was written and is called as a right click action from within the DMS client.
HomeDev has experience with utilising the REST API, .Net API, IAObjects and Appserver methods. A WCF Service was also developed to provide a central API to allow real time integration between the firms practice management system and InterAction.
